AUGUST.(Poem)

I go down to my cellars before Africa

which has come already to our neighborhood

opening thrushes' beaks though not for song

at night I thought it was rain I heard

a downpour thrashing but it was only straw

with such fervor it crashes when on the pallet

I toss and turn
