NSW: 24-hour postal strike planned for Wednesday

Christmas gift deliveries across Sydney could be delayed after postal unions today
announced a 24-hour strike later this week.

The Postal Workers Union has announced the stoppage, which will begin on Wednesday
evening, after talks broke down with Australia Post over proposed technology changes.

The union claims around 850 postal staff will be affected by the planned network and
technology changes.

A statement released by the union says Sydney will be without Parcel Post services
for part of the week.

The news follows an unsuccessful legal challenge last week by Australia Post which
attempted to block a planned walkout.
